THINKING OUTSIDE THE BIKE BOX
Edmonton opened its first set of downtown bike lanes Friday with routes on 100 Avenue, 103 Street and 107 Street. Cyclists celebrated on Twitter, with several saying they biked out of their way just to try the new designs. But drivers griped about wasted space and cars forced to idle on narrower roads. University of Alberta researchers have been hired to evaluate the bike-lane system over an 18-month period.
