Perfect fare for summer viewing

- LINDSEY WARD

Looking to lose a few brain cells this summer? You’ve come to the right place. Summer is the perfect time to engage in some of the lighter offerings the reality TV world has to offer. So take a load off, and prepare to cringe — er, binge — on these:

Botched (June 18, E!): Yes, this is about plastic surgery. Could a show called Botched be about anything else? It follows two reputable surgeons as they clean up the messes other, presumably less-reputable surgeons have made.

Little Big Shots — Forever Young (June 21, NBC): If you’ve ever wondered where you could find an octogenarian tap dancer, look no further than this Steve Harvey-hosted talent show, featuring youngat-heart seniors and an appearance by the beloved Betty White.

Boy Band (June 22, ABC): The search for the next One Direction is on as young men compete to become a member of America’s “next great boy band” in this 10-week series. Rita Ora hosts while Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and Spice Girl Emma Bunton play mentors.

Big Brother (June 28, CBS/ Global): A slimy, sloppy, shirtless summer staple, Big Brother is back for a 19th round. The web is buzzing with rumours about returning house guests, but producers refuse to spill on this year’s casting.

Battle of the Network Stars (June 29, ABC): Farrah Fawcett, Robin Williams, Sonny Bono, Heather Locklear and William Shatner were among the TV stars who competed in the original version of this show back in the 1970s and ’80s. The only names named for the reboot so far are former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey and former Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Ware, who will both coach a rotating case of celebrities in various sporting events.

Life of Kylie (July 6, E!): “There’s an image that I have to keep up with, then there’s me, Kylie,” the 19-year-old Jenner sister of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Twitter (175 million followers!), fame says in the trailer for her new series. Because if you ever wanted to let people in on the real you, a reality show is the place to do it, right?
