Police are asking the public for help in finding a person of interest after a man was found dead inside a west Edmonton residence Friday.

James Joel Dunham, 40, was found dead in a residence at 10125 153 St. after police responded to a weapons complaint at around 5:20 a.m. Friday.

Police would like to speak to Kendall Desjarlais, 32.

“If members of the public come across Mr. Desjarlais, they are asked not to approach him for their own safety,” said Edmonton police spokesperson Scott Pattison, speaking to media at Southeast Division headquarters on Saturday.

“He is a person of interest, not a suspect at this time.”

Police would like to know Desjairlais’ whereabouts and activities leading up to and following Dunham’s death.

“It is imperative that they speak to him. The investigation is fairly recent, yesterday morning, and with any suspicious death investigation, finding as many witnesses to speak to quickly is imperative,” Pattison said.

According to police, Desjarlais is wanted on outstanding warrants unrelated to Dunham’s death.

“We don’t know his whereabouts, so certainly he could be anywhere at this time,” Pattison said.

Investigators would also like to speak to anyone who may know about Dunham’s activities leading up to his death. Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to contact police directly.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
