Camrose man drowns at nature reserve pond

An underwater dive team recovered the body of a 25-year-old Camrose man Sunday morning after he drowned at a local nature reserve pond.

The man was with friends at the Camrose County Nature Reserve Pond, located about 30 kilometres southeast of Edmonton, on Saturday afternoon.

He was last seen in the water at 8 p.m., RCMP spokeswoma­n Cpl. Laurel Scott said.

A multiagenc­y search and rescue effort Saturday night failed to locate the man but searchers managed to find and recover his body at about 10 a.m. on Sunday.

An autopsy has been scheduled. RCMP are not releasing the name of the victim.
