‘Heart is with Hunter’: Mother writes of baby killed in alleged arson

-

An Edmonton mother silenced by her injuries after being trapped in a house fire that killed her fivemonth-old baby hand wrote a note expressing her love for her lost son.

“My heart is with Hunter always. And I choose to remember the way he lived in my arms and wait (until) I hold you again,” read the note penned by Angie Tang.

Taped to a fence outside the ruins of her former home at 1040 Armitage Cres. SW, a note on coloured stationary thanked those attending the growing memorial of flowers and teddy bears for their support.

“With your prayers and support I know I will feel better and recover,” Tang wrote.

Tang, 29, remains in hospital recovering from injuries from smoke inhalation she sustained after her home was allegedly set on fire Aug. 22.

Six other residents inside the house were able to escape the 4 a.m. fire unharmed, including her husband Cordell Brown, 40; however, Tang became trapped in her bedroom on the top floor, cowering in the closet with her baby in her arms.

Tang and baby Hunter were rescued by firefighters as their home burned around them, but Hunter died from smoke inhalation.

Tang’s two dogs, Bunny and Mr. Poo, also died in the fire.

Brown said Tuesday morning that Tang remains in hospital, and while she is now able to breathe on her own she is still on life support.

Two former tenants have been accused of arson.

Bronson Woycenko, 19, was charged with second-degree murder, arson and disregard for human life. Jessica Tammerand, 18, was charged with arson and disregard for human life.
