Builder takes four honours at CHBA-Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing event
Edmonton’s top homebuilders keep racking up accolades. Standouts in the province’s residential construction industry were recognized by the Building Industry and Land Development Alberta Association (BILD Alberta) at the 2017 CHBA–Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing on Friday, in Jasper. The awards were presented at BILD Alberta’s Fall Conference, held at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Vicky’s Homes continued its recent winning streak with four awards, sweeping the top-end housing categories and taking home the Small Volume Builder of the Year Award. The Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year Award went to Stepper Homes of Calgary, while Calgary-based Cardel Lifestyles captured the Multi-family Builder of the Year Award.
Outside of the Builder of the Year awards — which were awarded for leadership in customer satisfaction, design, safety and volunteerism — a total of 25 awards were handed out, with winning entries judged on curb appeal, layout, functionality, finishes, special features and value. Edmonton-based projects led the way with 14 wins, while Calgary claimed 10 awards and Lethbridge projects captured one category.
“The winners truly excelled at design and innovation in each category,” said Donna Moore, CEO of BILD Alberta. “From single family and multi-family to green home, community development, renovation and safety, the winners showcased the best Alberta has to offer. The event also recognized winners of the 2017 CHBA–Alberta Safety Leadership Awards. Entrants were judged on responses to a detailed survey about fostering a safety culture among workers, management and contractors, as well as ways they share their success stories with the industry.
