The incumbent has represented the area since 2010. Prior to his election, he worked as a city labourer, became a union representative and worked for the Coalition of Edmonton Civic Unions. Loken favours expansion of the LRT to Castle Downs, “smart” urban design.

JOHN OPLANICH

A developer and businessman, Oplanich is returning for a second attempt to win Ward 3, after running previously in 2010. His priorities are to fix “crumbling” infrastructure on the north side, freeze property taxes, begin work on the northwest LRT line.

The dental hygienist and instructor volunteers with at least eight community organizations and charities. Principe’s website said her priorities are increasing public safety, close scrutiny of city budgets, improvements to roads and snow removal, among others.

The owner of Canstal Heat Tracing Solutions is an electrical engineer and frequent volunteer. Rasheed wants to remove licensing fees for first-time business owners, give Armed Forces members free passes to civic facilities, improve transit.
