Speeding is not the only problem

Re. “Slowpokes also need to be ticketed,” Letters, Oct. 10

No driver should cause accidents, or be erratic, whether driving over or under the speed limit.

As has been pounded into our brains from long ago, we must always be alert and always watch other drivers, in front and behind us, as well as pedestrians.

I also include pedestrians in this matter.

Whatever happened to “Look left, then right, and left again,” before crossing streets and avenues? Nowadays, most folks are too busy either not looking where they cross, or looking at their (notso) smartphones, even while driving. How stupid are most folks willing to be?

Today, while driving, I noticed another driver going out of a traffic circle without signalling. But, no police in sight.

Yes, it is high time for those in charge of traffic to look for misdemeanours other than solely via radar, or ticketing (so-called) speeders. Liz Milanovich, Edmonton
