More than a year after an Edmonton man was shot to death in Regina, police there have issued a $25,000 reward, believing someone in Alberta can shed light on the killing.

Abdisalam Dahir Nur — also known as “Dame” or “Damien” — was found shot to death at a house in Regina at 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2016, Regina police said in a news release Thursday.

Nur, 27, was involved in a violent drug network, police said.

Answers in the case are “out there somewhere,” but investigators have “followed up on every lead available to them and have exhausted several avenues of investigation,” police said.

According to witnesses, two men were seen fleeing from the back of the house and driving away in either a red Jeep or SUV, possibly with an Alberta licence plate.

Nur’s name was on the business licence of an Edmonton lounge and hookah bar at 9317 111 Ave. where the first homicide of 2016 took place. Abdikadir Mohamed, 25, was shot on New Year’s Day after an altercation in the lounge spilled out into the streets. He died in hospital Jan. 7. His killing has not been solved.

Edmonton police, fire and city inspectors shut down the bar on Jan. 27, 2016, stating the building required HVAC, electrical, plumbing and gas permits.

Regina police are offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in relation to Nur’s death, but there are conditions.

A name, address and complete statement are required and the person may be called to testify.

To claim the reward, a letter must be addressed to: Chief of Police, 1717 Osler St., Regina, Sask., S4P 3W3.

The reward was approved by the Regina Board of Police Commissioners and will expire on Dec. 31, 2018.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit at 306777-6500.
