Molitor, Lovullo win manager of the year

Torey Lovullo of the Arizona Diamondbac­ks has won the NL manager of the year award after his first full season as a big league skipper. Paul Molitor of the Minnesota Twins won the AL manager of the year award. An all-star with the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1990s, the 61-year-old Molitor received 18 of a possible 30 first-place votes from members of the Baseball Writers’ Associatio­n of America. Cleveland’s Terry Francona received 11 first-place votes and finished second. Lovullo, 52, guided the Diamondbac­ks to a 93-69 record and their first playoff spot since 2011. He won the NL award with 18 of 30 first-place votes, ahead of Dave Roberts with the Los Angeles Dodgers, with five.
