Sample the Taste of Edmonton

- Jonathan LinDs

With the onset of another harsh winter, it’s never too early to start dreaming about the summer, about warm weather, cool drinks sunny cookouts and outdoor music fests.

No event combines all of those summer delights quite like the Taste of Edmonton. The yearly fest brings Edmonton’s best dishes, drinks and Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series to locals and visitors alike.

The event, which will take place July 19-28, is one of the most popular of the season.

This past summer, over 480,000 people swarmed Churchill Square to sample savoury dishes, desserts and beverages from local brewers and distillers.

Next year, the Taste of Edmonton will feature more than 60 local restaurants and food trucks, where attendees can experience the best the city has to offer.

Parents of small kids will love the family-friendly La Piazza licensed area, where they can experience the Taste 4 Kids programming, which runs every day of the festival.

How about a little music to go with your meal? Next year’s Taste of Edmonton will feature a variety of up-and-coming musicians from across the country.

As the city plunges deeper into winter, it’s thoughts of t-shirt weather, cold drinks and a sizzling grill that’s going to give us the motivation to power through.

It’s a reward like Taste of Edmonton waiting on the other side that makes the winter struggle worthwhile.
