Aquarian Renovations

- Gerald Vander Pyl

Aquarian Renovations has found success by forging a bond with their clients that goes above and beyond the task of simply renovating a home.

Along the way Aquarian has garnered accolades and awards, including being named a winner in the Edmonton Journal’s Readers’ Choice Awards, in the home renovator category.

But it’s been a bittersweet success, as company founder Doug Soprovich passed away in 2012, leaving his wife to carry on the legacy and keep Aquarian moving forward

“It’s an important part of our story,” says Marie Soprovich, Aquarian owner, president and CEO. “I think it gives hope to others who have been in situations where life doesn’t go the way you think it should. We have more in us than we think we did. So, with a little support and encouragement from your community and your family and friends, we can carry on.”

Soprovich says a successful renovation is about much more than the construction phase.

“I think it’s all about relationships — about getting to know our potential clients and our clients at a deep level, and really being good listeners as to what they are wanting to create in their renovation.” She says the company has a design-build process — taking clients from the very beginning and a concept idea through the whole system of drawing blueprints, creating 3D renderings, picking products, and providing a full cost estimate — before starting any kind of construction.

“We really have everything mapped out before we get into the building part of it. So, it takes a lot of the uncertainty out of what it is that we are doing and where we are going,” says Soprovich.

“(It also provides) that sense of transparency and working with the client to create exactly what they want and need and are able to afford.

“At the heart of it is the homeowner, and we’re here for them.”
