Werewolf wins critics’ prize
Cape Breton filmmaker Ashley McKenzie has won the $100,000 Rogers Best Canadian Film Award from the Toronto Film Critics Association (TFCA). It’s the richest film prize in Canada. McKenzie won for her feature debut, Werewolf, a sharp drama about a young couple in Nova Scotia facing the monster that is methadone addiction. Last year McKenzie won the TFCA’s $5,000 Stella Artois Jay Scott Prize for an emerging artist.
