Edmonton released a list of 30 possible next steps for better infill at a launch party Wednesday night. City officials will be hosting workshops to gather public reaction through February. More details are available at cityofedmo­ntoninfill.ca. Here are 10 of the ideas coming from the community members, developers and other participan­ts:

Explore opportunit­ies to

■ allow more than two homes on a lot through garden suites, tiny homes, smallscale apartments or rooming homes.

Propose tax strategies to

■ encourage infill developmen­t.

Help the industry assemble ■ land for larger infill projects.

Create a performanc­e

■ recognitio­n program for infill builders.

Proactivel­y re-zone land

■ where the city wants medium density.

Educate residents on how

■ they can get involved in the planning process.

Study how use public investment

■ to most effectivel­y encourage densificat­ion.

Encourage accessible

■ lane-way suites for seniors.

Use pilot projects to try

■ new infill forms like courtyard housing.

Simplify rules for lowdensity

■ infill in redevelopi­ng areas.
