Oil Kings blast past Blazers to score rare back-to-back wins

The Edmonton Oil Kings got off to an impressive start Monday during a four-game road trip through the Western Hockey League’s B.C. Division.

Colton Kehler scored two goals, while Brendan Semchuk and Ethan Cap had the others in a 4-1 win against Kamloops Blazers.

Oil Kings goaltender Josh Dechaine made 29 saves in the win.

The victory gave Edmonton back-to-back wins for only the third time this season. The Oil Kings defeated the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 Saturday at Rogers Place.

Edmonton scored four consecutiv­e goals in the B.C. Family Day matinee encounter after Jackson Shepard gave the Blazers a 1-0 lead 1:52 into the first period.

Kehler tied the game at one apiece 1:20 into the second period with his 25th goal of the season.

Semchuk scored 22 seconds later to put the Oil Kings up 2-1.

The Oil Kings continue the road trip Wednesday against the Victoria Royals before travelling to take on the Vancouver Giants and Kelowna Rockets Friday and Saturday. The Oil Kings return home to host the Saskatoon Blades Feb. 19.
