PM’s passage to India draws flak while B.C. minister offers a toast
Each week, we give you a roundup of the Alberta politics outrage, the posturing and the downright weird unfolding on social media.
A PASSAGE TO INDIA
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken a lot of flak over his trip to India this week, and that includes criticism from Alberta Opposition Leader Jason Kenney.
On Wednesday, the United Conservative Party leader tweeted out a video that chastised Trudeau for the trip while Alberta faced off against B.C. in the ongoing pipeline dispute.
“Now he’s right there flagrantly in public going around with his family … while the British Columbia New Democrats are doing everything they can … to block the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion,” Kenney said in the video.
Trudeau was still in India Thursday when Alberta lifted the ban on B.C. wine. That decision followed a move by B.C. Premier John Horgan that de-escalated the tension.
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COME ON!
British Columbia’s agriculture minister was in a great mood (at least on Twitter) after Alberta lifted its B.C. wine ban.
Lana Popham posted a photo of herself standing in a wintry B.C. vineyard with the message: “It’s official! The Alberta government has announced that they will be purchasing our #BCwine again!”
Her message followed Alberta Premier Rachel Notley’s announcement Thursday that the boycott was over.
