Playgrounds are deserted in winter
I echo the comments of a couple of letter writers about making playground zones seasonal.
The people who came up with the current times clearly don’t have kids.
What responsible parent would allow their kid to play in the frigid dark mornings of 8 a.m., or the equally dark late winter afternoons of 4:30 p.m.?
Since the zones have been in effect, I’ve only seen empty, snow-covered fields and no kids during the pitch-black, freezing hours of winter.
School-zone speed limits only take effect during school days and school hours.
Similarly, playground zones should be in effect from May to October and during daylight hours.
I wrote and tweeted to the mayor and councillors to make playground zones like school zones.
Sadly, I have heard no replies from our politicians.
