FOR THE EARLY BIRDS, IT’S ALL DOWNTOWN
Lottery pairs a last shot at life in Ultima with a hybrid sports car
Ultimately, it’s not a full house if a downtown condo isn’t in the mix.
For this year’s 25th anniversary edition of the Full House Lottery, the condo-sports car early bird combination is back.
Officials describe last year’s early bird, which added a two-bedroom, two-bathroom Ultima Condominiums unit into the mix of its residential home prizing, as its most popular ever.
Once again, it’s a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit that is up for grabs. This one happens to be the last available condo at the Ultima, at 10238 103rd St., which recently was named the best multi-family apartment style over $325,000 at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association-Edmonton Region Awards of Excellence in Housing gala. The ninth-floor, 830-squarefoot northeast corner unit comes with nine-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and offers direct views of the Ice District to the north and east-facing views of downtown.
“It’s one of the only all-glass luxury highrise condos in Edmonton,” said Scott Penrice, sales manager for Westrich Pacific, the Ultima’s developer. “People are excited about the change that’s happening in the core of the city, and this lets them be a part of it.
“In the next three to four years, there’s going to be about 2,500 new residences coming just to this twoblock area (from 102nd Avenue to 104th Avenue). It’s pretty amazing.”
People don’t yet understand the impact that will have, Penrice said. On average, two people will live in each of those units, he said.
“The streets will be packed with people,” Penrice said. “It’s huge for our city, and this does not include other multi-family units in the surrounding area. This area is just going to be buzzing in the next few years.”
Along with the condo, which includes air conditioning, hardwood flooring, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances and a parking stall, the early bird prize package — valued at $606,856 — includes a BMW i8 hybrid sports car.
“We hope our buyers are excited to see the return of the condo and the car for this year’s early bird,” said Lindsay Peddle, director of communications for the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation. “There is truly no more exciting place to live in downtown Edmonton. Downtown revitalization is alive and well, and the Full House Lottery is proud to be a part of it.”
“We are tremendously excited to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Full House Lottery,” said Nicole Merrifield, director of communications and special projects for the University Hospital Foundation. “It’s a testament to the tremendous support that the lottery has had, and the impact it continues to have for millions of patients.
This year, funds raised will go to improving emergency services at the University of Alberta Hospital and to advance women’s health services at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
