Alberta Party MLA Karen McPherson took to Twitter Thursday over a video on United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney’s Facebook page with the caption: “What’s the biggest issue facing women in Alberta today?”

“I’ll tell you what I think the most important women’s issue is in Alberta,” Kenney said in the video. “Our economy.

“I don’t care whether you’re a woman or a man, whether you’re straight or gay, whether you’re an immigrant or you’re a sixth generation Albertan. If you’re out of work, I want to get you a job,” Kenney said.

His video spurred McPherson, among other social media users, to tweet out a screen caption of the video.

“Well thank God @jkenney has come to the rescue of women across Alberta to let us know what our biggest problem is because Lord knows we can’t figure it out ourselves. Quickly, someone grab me a hankie, I have the vapours. Please let him know how much we appreciate the help,” McPherson’s tweet said.

PREMIER HEADS TO OTTAWA

I’ll tell you what I think the most important women’s issue is in Alberta. Our economy.

Premier Rachel Notley will be in Ottawa Sunday for a meeting with her B.C. counterpart, premier John Horgan, and prime minister Justin Trudeau.

It’s the latest political confab during rising tensions over the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

The project was thrown into doubt when Kinder Morgan Inc. announced it would stop non-essential spending until shareholder confidence was restored.

The standoff has Horgan touting a need to protect B.C.’s coast and Notley promising to defend Alberta’s economic interests.

Notley’s entourage will include three staff members and at least one official.
