Don’t be casual about crosswalks
No matter what speed a car is travelling at, if it hits a pedestrian, he or she will get hurt or killed.
Perhaps if pedestrians would think of crosswalks, marked or not, and lights as a means to “aid” in crossing the street safely instead of a “guarantee” that you will cross safely, most pedestrian injuries and deaths will be prevented.
As for those pedestrians jaywalking or crossing against the light, you are pushing your luck.
All pedestrians, at all times while crossing a street, should be looking for the driver that may not be looking for you and may not stop; I know I do.
