Thieves take $210K worth of silver bars

Police were searching for the thieves who made off with more than $210,000 in silver bars from an acreage north of Edmonton.

Police were called by an Edmonton retiree about a break-and-enter about 5:45 p.m. April 11.

Police were told the thieves cut the lock off a vehicle gate in the driveway before breaking into the residence. Inside, they made off with $20,000 worth of registered firearms and a large amount of ammunition.

Police said the thieves then broke into a garage on the property where they broke into a safe that contained a large amount of silver bars valued at more than $210,000.
