If you were at those locations during those time frames, and were born after 1970, and have not had measles or have not received two doses of measles vaccine, you may be at risk for developing the disease.
Any pregnant women or people with infants under one-year-old who visited the Misericordia Hospital on May 10, 11, 12 are encouraged to call Health Link at 811 for preventive treatment.
Anyone else is asked to monitor their symptoms for the next 21 days until June 2.
Symptoms of measles includes a fever of 38.3 C or higher, a cough, runny nose and/or red eyes, and a red blotchy rash that appears three to seven days after fever starts, beginning behind the ears and on the face and spreading down the body and then to the arms and legs. Measles has no cure.
Most cases eventually clear up on their own, but some infections can lead to severe complications like pneumonia, encephalitis and death.
Those infected with measles are often contagious before they show any symptoms.
