Back in December 2006, Sarbjit Kahlon, then 33, was sentenced in Edmonton court to four years in prison after being busted by customs officers who intercepted a package from India containing nearly a kilogram of opium. At that time, Kahlon ran a health food store in west Edmonton.

Court heard then that a package sent from the Punjab province in India containing 978 grams of opium was seized by officials at an airport in Montreal. The parcel, without its illegal contents, was sent on to its Edmonton destination with the help of RCMP.

Armed with a warrant, Mounties then searched a Mill Woods home, seizing about $7,200 in cash, an unsafely stored 9-mm handgun, 12,600 tablets of the anabolic steroid stanozolol and 4,650 tablets of nandrolone.
