Have you purchased yours yet? Grey Cup tickets on sale today

- TREVOR ROBB

Today’s the day.

After months of waiting, Edmonton Eskimos fans, and Canadian Football League (CFL) fans of all stripes, will have the opportunity Friday to get their hands on the hottest tickets in town to the 106th Grey Cup at Commonwealth Stadium, which is set for Nov. 25.

Tickets go on sale at 2 p.m. at ticketmaster.ca.

Prices range from $99 to more than $325.

In 2010, tickets to the Grey Cup in Edmonton sold out in six days, a CFL record. Season ticket holders can skip the line and secure their Grey Cup tickets before 2 p.m.

Attendees at Friday morning’s sold-out Bring the Heat breakfast will also be able to purchase tickets on site before they officially go on sale.

The four previous Edmonton Grey Cups have attracted 60,081, 60,431, 62,531 and 63,317 people.

Due to new wider seats installed throughout Commonwealth Stadium, this year’s game will have a seating capacity of 55,614.

The 2018 Grey Cup Festival Nov. 21-25 will be held on Jasper Avenue from 99 Street to 96 Street, nearly double the size of where the festival was held in 2010 at Churchill Square. Organizers expect up to 40,000 out-of-town visitors, with around 500,000 onsite spectators in total.

New this year is a 243-metre zip line running from an eightstorey launch tower near the Shaw Conference Centre down to Louise McKinney Park in the river valley.

The festival will also feature beer gardens, a mini-football field, a 20,000-square-foot tent structure for family-friendly events, and a “street ski” down Grierson Hill Road.

Edmonton has hosted four Grey Cups in the event’s 105-year history.

The Eskimos have won 14 Grey Cups, but never at home. People interested in volunteering can register at greycupfestival.ca.
