Finally, Edmonton’s most awesome nêhiyawak has signed to Arts & Crafts, one of Canada’s most steadfast record labels whose acts over the years have pulled in 12 Junos, never mind all the brilliant bands like Frazey Ford, Dan Mangan and Kid Koala.
The local Indigenous trio blends traditional storytelling with fist-to-the-sky total rock, and is one of my favourite things going in Edmonton’s music scene.
To celebrate, they’ve released a new single, somnambulist, produced by Colin Stewart (the New Pornographers,
Black Mountain) joined by the innovative Jason Borys doing sound design, with visual by Courteney Morin — celebrating their collaborative nature. Have a peek at the video on YouTube — I promise you the word “somnambulist” in the search engine gets you there quick.
