Both large and small homes on tour

“We really love the curves,” said Plante, adding that curves can be found in a sculpted light fixture in the great room and curved accents in the floors.

“We’re very happy to support the arts,” said Plante, noting it was their builder who contacted them to see if they would be interested in being a part of the home tour. “We are very pleased to have been selected and have people come in.”

VINTAGE, RETRO, AND MORE

Head to the other homes on the tour and it’s like being thrown a curve, as different takes on home design and decorating await.

In Cameron Heights, it’s all about absolute elegance and 7,600 square feet of living space. Or there’s the polar extreme in Terrace Heights, where a starter home packs a punch with an eye-catching mix of retro and modern.

The McQueen home puts the focus on clever ways to use space in a warm, contemporary setting for a family of six, while the Glenora (Capitol Hill) home shows how empty nesters — two musicians and artists — reimagined their house and had it renovated instead of moving elsewhere once their kids moved on.

“We felt it important not only to choose homes that may be beyond the reach of the average person, but to also find homes that have been pulled together well on a budget,” said Somerville, noting that the tour is the ballet’s major fundraiser. “We look for money year-round, seven days a week to keep our dancers on stage so that we can offer our city world-class ballet.”
