Cracked earth, Whipped Cream and dusty art
The Human Epoch: Guess what, fellow earthlings? We’re wrecking the only planet we live on! Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky follow up Manufactured Landscapes and Watermark with a sobering meditation on psychedelic potash mines, expansive concrete seawalls, mammoth industrial machines and other examples of humanity ’s massive re-engineering of the planet visible from space. Do we still have time to undo the damage? Stick your head in a hole or maybe take a look? Details: 7 p.m. at Metro Cinema (8712 109 St.), $13 adult at metrocinema.org
MZD DUST SALON
Simply put, this is an evening of mixed art and performance inspired by the dust surrounding us. What? Dust needs love, too! The players include Bill Bourne, Neo Chokpelleh, Paul Giang, Allara Gooliaff, Jen Mesch, Kelly Ruth, Caitlin Sian-Richards, Lady Vanessa Cardona, Katherine Semchuk and Kai Villneff — hosted by Liam P. Coady under the Mile Zero Dance banner. It’s also a chance to see artwork by Beth Pederson, who digitally alters everyday objects into collages turning the mundane into objects of contemplation. Details: 8 p.m. at Mile Zero Dance (10816 95 St.), $20 at Eventbrite
