ROYAL BISON ART & CRAFT FAIR

It’s Weekend 2 of Royal Bison, your best chance to nab artisanal wares and actual, legitimate local art at staggeringly good prices. A few of last weekend’s noteworthy vendors included mighty muralist Jill Stanton with prints and T-shirts, Mezzaluna Studio’s alluring mid-century design-inspired prints and calendars, Wilf Kozub’s music and art prints, ThinkItem’s Taco Skateboard Co. stand (including Mariachi Chewbacca stickers), Double Lunch’s tape shop and Smokey Johnson’s disturbing Santa ornaments, which sold out every single day. Most of these cats and many more will be back, Bison opens 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Details: 5 p.m.–9 p.m. at Cosmopolitan Music Society (8426 Gateway Blvd.), $3 at the door

THE NINA AFTER HOURS HOLIDAY PARTY & SALE

Everyone is invited to this special meet, greet and buy event hosted by Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts — the biggest-hearted gallery in Edmonton. With a wide range of styles and media including paintings, drawings and sculpture, the developmentally challenged artists at Nina share their imaginations turned material — and purchases support both the artists and the centre.

Details: 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Nina Haggerty (9225 118 Ave.), no charge

SUSPIRIA

The great Alice Cooper once told me Suspiria was his favourite scary movie, and like Star Wars the mind bends imagining how anyone could ever justify remaking it. But if J.J. Abrams can rebuild the Empire with a few terrible changes, why can’t Luca Guadagnino take a stab at Dario Argento’s most famous tone piece? Goblin did the soundtrack for the original; Guadagnino brought in Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. The controversial remake, certainly looks creepy. Bonus points for hiring Tilda Swinton. Details: 6:30 p.m. at Metro Cinema (8712 109 St.), $13 at metrocinema.org
