THREE TO SEE THURSDAY

- Fish Griwkowsky

WEIRD AL KARAOKE

As far as that heart-shaped platter at Boston Pizza can go to display your love of self or even another, the ever-controversial Valentine’s Day (partnered privilege, anyone?) does function much better with an actual battle plan.

If you want something that tackles this complicated day in a side-splitting way, Booty Goose Comedy’s Weird Al Karaoke is having a special V-Day edition, where love itself will surely be in the crosshairs of the comedians’ handmade parody covers. Details: 9 p.m. at Grindstone Theatre (10019 81 Ave.), $12 at grindstonetheatre.ca

The Princess Bride

Wallace Shawn and Andre the Giant? Seriously, what could be more romantic, people? Popcorn and juice will be available, and you’re welcome to bring your favourite movie snacks. This event is part of a larger series of free events, Thursdays To Be Discovered, every Thursday at 6 p.m. Details: 6 p.m. at Legislative Assembly of Alberta Visitor Centre (9820 107 St.), free — register on Eventbrite

PETUNIA WITH NATHAN GODFREY

Spending the early part of his folk/Canadiana career playing on every major street corner, subway station and park bench in Canada picking, grinning and singing for his living, Petunia has been a regular on the touring circuit for many years now. Calgary old-time guitar, banjo and mandolin player Nathan Godfrey joins him on this leg, should be a warm and wonderful evening. Details: 7:30 p.m. at The Aviary (9314 111 Ave.), $12 at the door or the-aviary.net
