Oprah Winfrey

On her Your Path Made Clear Tour, Oprah Winfrey has a special guest in each city. In Edmonton’s case its author Cheryl Strayed, of whom Winfrey says, “Here’s what I got from reading her work and meeting Cheryl Strayed: No matter where you are in your climb in life, no matter what you’re doing, you have to keep getting yourself up every day. No matter the obstacle in front of you, you just have to keep getting up and doing what you have to do. Sometimes that means dealing with demons.” Demons! That sounds exciting, maybe a few hid under the stage at Judas Priest! Either way, Thursday the rink belongs to Oprah. High Life ( 2018)

Last chance to see this one, a horror film written and directed by Claire Denis and starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche. The film focuses on a group of criminals who are sent on a mission to travel on a spaceship toward a black hole while taking part in scientific experiments. It is Denis’s first English-language film, and was co-written with her longtime collaborator Jean-Pol Fargeau. The physicist and black-hole expert Aurelien Barrau was hired as a consultant, and the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson designed the film’s spacecraft.
