A late night noise complaint at a Jasper resort on Saturday resulted in a “significant altercation” where a Taser was used and three people are facing multiple charges including assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

At about midnight, Jasper RCMP were called to Pine Bungalows for a noise complaint, police said in a news release Saturday night.

There, officers met a 31-year-old woman from White Rock, B.C. A police check showed the woman had a warrant for her arrest out of Edmonton and she was taken into custody.

Police said the husband of the woman came out of a cabin and interfered with officers as they were taking his wife away. The 29-yearold man, also from White Rock, was “very disruptive and belligerent which caused multiple guests to come out of their cabins wondering what was the cause of such disturbance,” said the news release.

The man was arrested for obstructing the enjoyment of property. During his arrest, RCMP said the man physically resisted officers and uttered threats against them.

While officers were attempting to take the husband into custody, police said a friend of the man physically interfered with the arresting officers and was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

Police said that man’s wife then ran up to the scene and assaulted one of the officers. She was placed under arrest but “a significant altercation” occurred which resulted in an officer using a Taser on her.

Police said while officers were taking her into custody, her handcuffed husband kicked an officer who was on the ground.

Additional officers along with a Parks Canada Law Enforcement Warden were called to the bungalows and helped safely take everyone involved into custody.

A 29-year-old man from White Rock has been charged with mischief under $5,000, resisting arrest, uttering threats and breach of recognizance.

A 28-year-old man from Edmonton was charged with obstructing a police officer and assaulting a police officer.

A 28-year-old woman from Edmonton was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

No charges were brought against the 31-year-old woman from White Rock. She was taken into custody for her arrest warrant.

Police said as the charges have not been sworn yet, no names will be released.

All suspects are scheduled to appear in Jasper provincial court on Sept. 12.
