PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO ALL PROPOSED BYLAWS

-

In this time of social distancing, the City of Edmonton is seeking to find new and unique ways to allow public input and to continue City Council Statutory Public Hearings safely. Current legislative provisions make the holding of remote Statutory Public Hearings possible. Section 3 of the recently passed MGA Meeting Procedures (COVID-19 Suppression) permits the holding of public hearing remotely provided certain requirements are met. In addition, on March 30, 2020, City Council suspended the operation of section 3 of Schedule A of the Council Procedures Bylaw to allow for remote participation at Statutory Public Hearings.

In alignment with the MGA Meeting Procedures (COVID-19 Suppression) Regulation, City Council will hold a remote City Council Statutory Public Hearing. As this meeting is being held remotely, there are important changes to the public hearing process (outlined below) that you should be aware of. Please be advised that opportunities are being provided to allow you to submit your comments/concerns either in writing or by registering to speak remotely.

City Council will hold a remote Statutory Public Hearing on the proposed bylaws and resolutions on June 9, 2020 at 1:30 PM in Council Chamber, 2nd Flr. City Hall (please note that City Hall is closed to the public). You are invited to attend the Statutory Public Hearing remotely to express your views or listen to the deliberations.

Your comments can be presented remotely, emailed, faxed or mailed.
