ARLO MAVERICK AND OOZEELA

Hip-hop emcee Arlo Maverick is easily one of Edmonton's top talents, a master of catch-and-release, real life experience turned into music that doesn't hold back exposing the personal, especially in cuts like Ceiling Fan, a collab with Oozeela a couple years back. This show is part of a new series of concerts at Holy Trinity, featuring two, one-hour performances. Admission is $10, but any donations to the artists are hugely appreciated.

Besides these Saturday shows, Bill Bourne and Paul Staples are doing the same thing Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Love it, and as the venue itself quotes on its site, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Details: 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 10037 84 Ave., $10 at brassmonkeyarts.com

A BRIMFUL OF ASHA

Join Ravi and his mother Asha as they tell you their hilarious, awkward and utterly true story of family tradition. An attempt at an arranged marriage sparks a generational cultural clash, as Ravi is reluctant to marry — and Asha fears time is running out.

Based on the 2012 book by the main characters, directed by Mieko Ouchi, featuring Adolyn H. Dar as Ravi and Nimet Kanji as Asha. Approx. 95 minutes, no intermission — audience masks mandatory, thank you so much! Runs through Nov. 15. Details: 7:30 p.m. Shoctor Theatre, 9828 101A Ave., $61.16 at citadeltheatre.com

REBECCA ( 1940)

In honour of Garneau Theatre's 90th birthday — it opened in 1940 — Metro Cinema presents the contemporary-at-the-time Alfred Hitchcock deep cut (pun intended) Rebecca.

Plot: A young woman who marries a widower is tormented by the memory of his former wife, Rebecca, who died mysteriously several years earlier. She must also deal with the jealous, obsessed Mrs. Danvers, the housekeeper, who will not accept her as the mistress of the house. Yeah, OK, but at least they didn't have to worry about being shamed on social media! 130 minutes. Details: 7 p.m. at Metro Cinema, 8712109St.,$13atmetrocinema.org or at the door.
