Manual tranny added to more Sentra trims

- ALEX REID Driving.ca

Nissan has released Canadian pricing for its 2021 Sentra and shuffled around some features specifically for the Canadian market that make the vehicle more desirable.

The Sentra had previously offered some strange options combinations. For example, you couldn't have the six-speed manual transmission in anything but the base trim, and that meant that you couldn't have heated front seats and heated exterior mirrors, or Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

For 2021, Android Auto and Apple Carplay are standard on the base trim, as are heated seats and heated mirrors. And if you want the manual transmission but don't want the base model, it is now available on the SR trim, which allows both for comfortable and sporty driving.

A two-tone Electric Blue Metallic with Black roof is a new addition for the SR trim, and features black rims as well.

Nissan has also given the engine some more kick, with a 20 per cent boost in horsepower and 17 per cent boost in torque. In total, that makes for 149 hp and 146 poundfeet of torque from the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.

Not including freight and PDI ($1,670), the Sentra S 6MT starts at $19,198, the S Xtronic is $20,798, SV Xtronic is $22,198, SV Xtronic Moonroof is $22,998, SR 6MT is

$22,898, the SR Xtronic is $24,198, and the Sentra SR Premium Xtronic $26,198. The changes apply specifically to Canadian models, and were co-ordinated by Scott Pak,

Nissan Canada's head of product planning, based on reviews of the 2020 Sentra. Sometimes automakers really do listen.
