THREE TO SEE
ARTS ON THE AVE.
As balmy November continues, if you want some arm's-length entertainment this might be the weekend to head to 118 Avenue and see all the wonderful onloan sculptures from Vancouver Biennale — including Cosimo Cavallaro's fibreglass resin Love Your Bean; Wang Shugang's eight painted bronze figures, The Meeting; and the most recently installed Walking Figures by Magdalena Abakanowicz — nine castiron figures missing a few body parts, yet nonetheless imposing. Details: Any time between 89 and 91 streets on 118 Avenue
LIMING
Curtis Talwst Santiago is playing with scale so effectively in this mirror-ball-lit room featuring his wonderful retro miniatures in jewelry cases and a full-sized basement-linoleum dance floor which you're encouraged to strut on. Exploring his childhood memories of literally underground parties in Sherwood Park when he was a kid, the now-international artist is busy creating new mythologies around the world, so it's nice he exposes an often undocumented part of our own local history. Take some time in here and listen to the music; the only thing missing is the shag carpet — but look again, it's there in miniature.
Details: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., through Feb. 14, second floor of
