Police have arrested a 38-year-old man after a yearlong investigation into ATM thefts going back to September 2019.

Darwyn Ronald Beaudry, 38, of no fixed address, was arrested last Tuesday by RCMP and the Eastern Alberta District General Investigation Section (EADGIS) in the hamlet of Gunn, a Friday RCMP news release said.

Gunn is about 77 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

Beaudry, who evaded police the day before, was identified as a suspect in multiple investigations and is alleged to have committed ATM thefts at a credit union and a gas station that resulted in significant property damage in the towns of Legal and Slave Lake.

Police also allege Beaudry committed a break-in on Nov. 20, 2019, at No Frills pharmacy in Vegreville.

Beaudry is facing 23 charges from multiple RCMP detachments. He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday.

EADGIS Cpl. Robert Burgess said in the release the unit's investigations into ATM thefts continue, and after laying more than 100 charges, it anticipates making more arrests. The announcement comes after three other arrests were made as part of ATM theft probes on Nov. 17.

Daniel Patrick O'donnell, 33, of no fixed address was arrested in Rochester, about 90 kilometres north of Edmonton, after fleeing a property in a stolen vehicle along with Lorne Kyle Jack Harris, 33, of Barrhead. Police said a search of the vehicle located a loaded, sawed-off prohibited shotgun and numerous rounds of ammunition.

Officers also arrested a woman at the property. Charlie Louise Bronson, 35, of Athabasca, was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

O'donnell is facing 60 charges, Harris is facing 25 charges, and Bronson is facing four charges.
