`Make sure our customers are happy'

- CINDY STEPHEN

Art Custom Homes began in 2006 with one person and a vision: to build unique, custom- quality homes, hand- in- hand with their customers, in Edmonton’s most prolific neighbourhoods.

With 2021 marking its 15 th anniversary, the family- owned company now has 20 employees. It plans to continue building on this foundation in communities such as Arbours of Keswick, Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine and Woodhaven Edgemont by Rohit Land Development.

President and owner Arman Pandher a t - tributes the company’s growth and success to obsessive attention to the customer and the build process.

“We make sure that every little detail, from the paperwork to the time we deliver the home, is looked at to make sure our customers are happy. It’s a one- on- one experience where we learn about each person and to see what their needs are. Sometimes they see things we don’t think of and vice versa,” he says.

Pandher cites the example of a recent customer who wanted a walkout lot along with a revenue suite in the basement of his new home. Concerned the customer was spending an extra $ 70,000 on a premium lot that he wouldn’ t enjoy or be able to collect additional rent for, they directed him to a stan

dard lot.

“We will sit with our buyers to learn about who they are and what their needs are,” he says.

The company’s new design centre has taken Art Custom Homes to the next level.

“It’s like a car dealership with a showroom versus no showroom,” Pandher says. “There are no design boards or predetermined palettes. It’s where customers, whether they’ve already pur

chased or are considering a purchase, can preview hundreds of samples and ideas.”

Art Custom Homes builds more spec or quick possession homes than other builders. By keeping a larger inventory of homes that have been constructed to the drywall stage, a buyer can save both time and money.

“A client can make their interior selections without starting from

scratch. This can save them about four months of waiting time. It’s an advantage for people who want to jump on today’s low-interest rates,” Pandher says.

By building in several neighbourhoods across Edmonton, Art Custom Homes can offer diverse home styles in a variety of price points. Pandher says they’ve developed a good relationship with Rohit Land Development and are busy building in

many of their communities.

“We started with Rohit in Callaghan in the southwest and the Greenwood at Orchards in the southeast, and in 2021, we’ ll move to Kinglet in the northwest. All very accessible, convenient neighbourhoods where schools are coming and recreation centres will be built,” he says. “Rohit also beautifully landscapes each community in advance, so they have

character well before our showhomes are open.”

Art Custom Homes is currently building streetscape homes in Arbours of Keswick, front- drive homes in Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine and front- drive and laned homes in Woodhaven Edgemont.
