Road closures planned for world triathlon event
Athletes will compete in Hawrelak Park and in North Saskatchewan River valley
Cheering Edmonton crowds will be music to the ears of Olympians and other athletes competing all weekend in the World Triathlon Championship Finals.
The free event will see athletes race through William Hawrelak Park and the North Saskatchewan River valley, but it also means some road closures and detours for drivers.

■ Groat Road, from 87 Avenue to 111 Avenue
■ Emily Murphy Park Road, from Groat Road to 116 Street
■ Saskatchewan Drive, from 116 Street to 110 Street
■ 116 Street, from Saskatchewan Drive to Edinboro Road
■ Edinboro Road, from 116 Street to 118 Street
■ 118 Street, from Edinboro Road to Saskatchewan Drive
■ Saskatchewan Drive, from 87 Avenue to 118 Street
SUNDAY, AUG. 22 (7 A.M.-5 P.M.)
■ Emily Murphy Park Road, from Groat Road to 116 Street
■ 116 Street, from Saskatchewan Drive to Edinboro Road
■ Edinboro Road, from 116 Street to 118 Street
■ 118 Street, from Edinboro Road to Saskatchewan Drive
■ Saskatchewan Drive, from 118 Street to 87 Avenue

ETS SHUTTLE SERVICE
On Saturday and Sunday, free shuttle buses will run between Windsor Car Park (9217 116 St.) and Hawrelak Park. Parking is available at Windsor Car Park for $5.50.
Shuttle buses will run approximately every five minutes but may be delayed due to road closures and the ongoing races. Masks are mandatory on transit.
Buses will run during the following times:
SATURDAY, AUG. 21
■ 5:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
■ 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
■ 12:15 p.m.-1:20 p.m.
■ 3:20 p.m.-4:05 p.m.
■ 6:05 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (or until the park is cleared)
SUNDAY, AUG. 22
■ 5:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
■ 10:45 a.m.-8:30 p.m. (or until the park is cleared)
There is one courtesy bus stop each way between Windsor Car Park and Hawrelak Park.

Bus routes 51 and 902 will also be on detour over the weekend.
PARKING
There will be some access to public parking at Hawrelak Park on Friday and none on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is also not permitted on the course.
Drivers are asked to obey all signs and tag and tow will be in effect. However, bike racks will be set up at the park for those who want to cycle in.
The park will not be accessible to public vehicles during the following event times:
Saturday: 5 a.m.-7:35 p.m. Sunday: 5 a.m.-5 p.m.
Emily Murphy Park will also be closed to the public for the duration of the event.
WHERE TO WATCH & COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
Spectators are invited to watch the U23 and Elite races on Saturday, however there are limited spots in the grandstand seating area. They are also invited to cheer on athletes during community events on Sunday.

To ensure the health and safety of participants and spectators, the park will be at 15 per cent capacity to ensure social distancing, masks will be provided for those who want them and it is recommended all visitors are fully vaccinated.
