Rebellious mood-setter “Look Like You Love It,” for example, is a commentary on our surface-deep society. “It’s important to walk around looking ‘like we love it,’ but real emotions are very scary,” says Elliphant. While chatting about “Revolusion,” a song intended as “a shout-out for people to be powerful,” she shares the times she feels mightiest: during sex and while dancing and performing. “I also feel powerful when I post a picture of a smoking monkey on Facebook and it gets 6,000 likes.”
