Picture the Victoria’s Secret beauty aesthetic: An impossibly leggy glamazon emerges from a cloud of glitter, her lithe limbs coated in a rich layer of bronzer. Her hair is gloriously long, with Kardashian-like waves swishing past sculpted obliques. But this year they tweaked the bombshell look— and ELLE Canada went to London, England, to investigate the brand’s latest head-turning allure.

Lead hairstylist Akki Shirakawa said the hair should look “chic, wearable and easy.” Extensions were obvs on hand, but they were used to create volume, not

Mega-Lift Mousse ($18) through damp roots before blow-drying and creating “bends.” He then set the hair in large rollers and, right before showtime, removed

them and shook up the hair for a bed-head effect, misting it with Victoria’s Secret Hair Weightless

Hair Oil ($18).

“In the past, Victoria’s Secret’s makeup has been quite bronze and golden,” said makeup artist Dick Page, who prepped the models for the show. But this year, the key product was a red theatrical face paint. “This flush of colour on the cheeks symbolizes the energy in the face,” explained Page. He applied the red pigment to cheeks and then lightly buffed bronzer overtop. Then he applied taupe shadow, brownish-black liner and mascara to eyes. To keep the brand’s signature neutral lip from looking “too flat or too dead,” Page mixed a nude lipgloss with the rosy-hued Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Stain in Endless Pink ($10).
