WORD UP
CHILD-FREE AND HAPPY
Thank you for the article “Fit to Be Tied” [ELLE Life, March 2017]. Getting my tubes tied was the best decision I ever made. I was 27. I remember meeting with the surgeon— it was an interrogation. “What if you meet someone and he wants kids?” (Then he’s the wrong guy.) “What if you change your mind?” (I won’t.) “Do you understand how serious this is?!?!” (Yes, I do.) It was a fight, but in the end I had the surgery. It was liberating. I am 52 now and still consider it the best decision I ever made. This article really resonated with me. Trish Barbato, email
FRESH START
Vanessa Craft’s February 2017 Letter from the Editor was the perfect introduction to Linda Rodin’s “Style Guide” essay [ELLE Style] and its heartfelt, no-nonsense, soulbaring revelations. Thank you both, Vanessa and Linda, for speaking to all women—the younger trendsetters and the older readers (I am 66) who are still very engaged and interested in what’s happening in the fashion world (and not at all intimidated by it!). I live in a very rural area of northeastern Ontario. I don’t have access to most of what I see in ELLE Canada, but I love that you let me “see” it. Thanks, ELLE Canada; you never disappoint. INSIDE OUT
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article about Linda Rodin [“Style Guide,” ELLE Style, February 2017]. It is so refreshing to see someone embracing their true beauty without bowing to peer pressure to follow trends. She really is a unique woman who we can all learn a lot from. Start by loving yourself, and then let your love for extrinsic things evolve according to your taste. Once you have both the love from within and the love of what you are wearing, you will be one magnificent, unstoppable icon of beauty. Jo-Anne Brigden, email
