10 NEW SHOWS WE ARE EXCITED TO WATCH

-

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY She had to be killed off on The Walking Dead to make it happen, but Sonequa Martin-Green is going to be the venerable space series’ first black female lead. She’ll be behind the panel as the first officer of the USS Discovery. The series promises to give more time to the personal lives of characters than any other Trek has before.

THE CROSSING Dead bodies washing up on the shore of your small town is one thing...but how about survivors who claim to be refugees from a war in the future? Not to be confused with the similarly dystopian Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name.

FOR THE PEOPLE What did Britt Robertson do after Girlboss got cancelled? Well, she’s starring in a new legal drama, set in the hyper-competitive Southern District of NYC, from Shonda “Queen of Juicy TV” Rhimes. We’re predicting Grey’s 2.0 but with, like, “I object” and stuff.

INHUMANS You know a show is a big deal when the first episode actually debuts in select IMAX theatres before it hits the small screen. We’re skipping loads of comic-book backstory here, but basically it’s about an isolated race with superhuman abilities.

THE MAYOR At a time when politics is no joke, here comes a sitcom trying to take a lighter look at what happens when the candidate no one really thought would win actually gets into office. Brandon Micheal Hall stars as an aspiring rapper turned accidental small-town mayor.
