OUR PLANS FOR THE SUMMER may not be what we originally had in mind, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be memorable and joyful. I’m in a reflective mood, so I’m going to prioritize creativity for creativity’s sake by playing around on the piano or writing without a template. Here’s what a few members of the team will be getting up to over the next couple of months.

“Since I can no longer take the much-anticipated trip to Spain I had planned, I will be bringing Spain to me. I will endeavour to learn how to make paella—and when that plan inevitably fails, I’ll support a local restaurant and order some from them.” VICTORIA DIPLACIDO, digital director

“After months indoors, I want to spend as much time outside as possible: hiking, eating on the patio, reading on the balcony. I’ve always wanted to learn how to skateboard—it’s an accessible mode of transportation and looks incredibly fun—and this summer seems like the perfect time to master a kickflip.” ERICA NGAO, fashion editorial assistant

“I’m looking forward to tuning my bicycle and going for long rides. It’s been a while since I rode, but it allows me to be outside (safely) and work on my fitness. And with my pottery classes having been cancelled, I’m also researching various off-line creative projects.” JED TALLO, art director

“Those who know me know I love to read, but now that I’m not commuting, I’ve been doing it a lot less, opting instead to make the easy escape into whatever TV show I’m binge-watching at the moment. This summer, I’m going to make more of an effort to step away from my screens, bring my fave reading essentials out to the backyard and make my way through the (very tall) stacks of unread books taking over my room.” PATRICIA KAROUNOS, associate editor

“Because school is out for the rest of the season, I want to take the time to pass on some skills to my niece and nephew that are beneficial to their learning and will help us bond as they grow up. The first things on the list are cooking and photography.” ELAINE JYLL REGIO, fashion and market editor
