Most people would have thought twice about launching a brand during a pandemic, but for Torontonians Stephanie Spence and Camille Katona, it was an opportunity. Enter 19/99, which was born out of a desire to create high-quality sustainable cosmetics that would appeal across generations. Simone Otis, makeup artist and founding partner of Bite Beauty, worked with the duo to create an edited line of two products: PRECISION COLOUR and PENCIL IN VOROS ($26) HIGH-SHINE GLOSS IN GLASS work alone or together ($24) to create a multitude of looks. The drastically altered supply chains and consumer behaviours induced by the pandemic only serve to reiterate 19/99’s ethos: The world is changing, and our idea of beauty needs to change with it.
