Most people would have thought twice about launching a brand during a pandemic, but for Torontonia­ns Stephanie Spence and Camille Katona, it was an opportunit­y. Enter 19/99, which was born out of a desire to create high-quality sustainabl­e cosmetics that would appeal across generation­s. Simone Otis, makeup artist and founding partner of Bite Beauty, worked with the duo to create an edited line of two products: PRECISION COLOUR and PENCIL IN VOROS ($26) HIGH-SHINE GLOSS IN GLASS work alone or together ($24) to create a multitude of looks. The drasticall­y altered supply chains and consumer behaviours induced by the pandemic only serve to reiterate 19/99’s ethos: The world is changing, and our idea of beauty needs to change with it.
