ACRASSICAUDA

“Gilgamesh”

ACCRASSICAUDA - DECEMBER 11

Presenting… The debut full-length album from ACRASSICAUDA, first introduced to North America as stars of the hit VICE documentary “Heavy Metal Baghdad”. Now, breaking away from the old adage of politics, exile, war, death and destruction, Acrassicauda’s new take on things brings a breath of fresh air into the lives of the band members and allows them to break away from the past traumas and uncertainties of war torn Iraq. The new album pays homage to the ancient Mesopotamian civilization using the Epic of Gilgamesh, an ancient poem written in the Acadian language in the 3rd millennium BC. Delving into themes of exotic journeys, life and death, love, the divine, success and failure, the Epic of Gilgamesh has much in common with the experiences of the band — it is a humble yet honest comparison. The album is an ode to the modern Iraq, a home from which they are exiled today.

KODE9

“Nothing” HYPERDUB - OUT NOW!

‘Nothing’ is Kode9’s first solo album and is about nothing. The album throws horror soundtracks, sampled library and j-pop records into a no man’s land between grime, early dubstep and Chicago footwork. Mostly instrumental, it zigzags between hypnotic, downcast loops, growling drones, and jagged cut-ups of androids gone haywire, threaded through twitchy, transatlantic rhythms and sub-bass inaudible through your laptop speakers.

MR. LIF

“I Phantom (reissue)”

Originally released on Definitive Jux in 2002, this sweeping and poignant concept album is finally available again. This classic features Run The Jewels’ El- P, Aesop Rock, Jean Grae, Edan, Insight, Akrobatic and DJ Fakts One. “I Phantom is the big payoff, the album that we knew Lif had in him.” – Pitchfork

MICHELLE McADOREY

“Into Her Future”

DWR - December 18 ( Vinyl)

CD OUT NOW!

The first album in ten years from Michelle McAdorey, ex Crash Vegas. Produced by Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo. The nine songs in this collection address the nature and importance of love as a guiding and crucial force in the world. The love for a child, the love of nature and the earth and the way love travels through time, linking the past to the present and indeed into the future. “With a voice reminiscent of Feist and, at times, Sinead O’Connor, coupled with a delicate, country-esque backing band, Michelle McAdorey is back after more than ten years out of the spotlight with her dreamy and road-tripping release, Into her Future.” – Exclaim! 8/10

RANCID

Released at the height of the 90’s wave of punk resurgence, ...and Out Come The Wolves is arguably on the most important albums of that decade and features tracks that became punk standards.

TY SEGALL

“Ty Rex”

GONER - OUT NOW!

The Ty Rex corner of Ty Segall’s oeuvre represents the nom-de-rock behind which the artist puts his spin on favored Tyrannosaurus Rex and T. Rex compositions. With previous releases now dwelling in outof-print nether-regions, the album compiles the six-song Ty Rex EP and the two-song Ty Rex II 7-inch. The compilation showcases a nice balance between T. Rex’s ’67-70 psych-folk incarnation under the name Tyrannosaurus Rex and the better-known pioneering and perfecting of glam-rock that defined the initial ’71-73 era under the shortened T. Rex moniker. Wrapping up this compilation of Ty- Rex material is a previously unreleased bonus track, Segall’s cover of “20th Century Boy” ( a non-album T. Rex single from 1973).

SOUNDTRACK

“Entertainment (Neil Hamburger)”

NUMERO - DECEMBER 4

Experience the soundtrack to Neil Hamburger’s existential dread. Entertainment is the unnerving film account of a traveling comedian lost on the brink. A broken, aging comic tours the California desert, cast away in a sea of third-rate venues, novelty tourist attractions, and self-serving attempts to reach his estranged daughter. This sonic companion to Entertainment comes straight from the record collection of top-secret Neil Hamburger alter ego Gregg Turkington, an avid gatherer of privately pressed curios and the self-proclaimed #1 fan of Frank Sinatra Jr. Joining the Son of the Chairman of the Board on this limited edition LP is a cast of downtrodden personalities, including an emphatically Los Angeleno nun, an Italian-language folkie whose guitar laments the Vietnam war, and a Columbus, Ohio, civil rights activist and record man. Included are interstitial dialogue snippets, one of which lets co-star John C. Reilly supply a bizarre rendition of “Away In A Manger.”

SPOON

“Gimme Fiction (2015 Remaster)”

MERGE - DECEMBER 11

The 10th anniversary expanded remastered reissue of the Spoon classic! Now includes unreleased demos & bonus tracks!! Gimme Fiction dragged the sonic pointillism of Kill the Moonlight further into dub-influenced weirdness as the increasingly confident Spoon went crazy in the studio, experimenting with everything from warped hip-hop samples to horse whinnies. How all this directionless Dylan worship and psychedelic goofing resulted in an album as sharply realized as Gimme Fiction is a testament solely to Spoon’s self-assurance and tastefulness ( and some hard work, and a bit of luck, etc.). Whatever digging or strange alchemy had to go into it, they only produced more gold. Gimme Fiction deserves special recognition because it’s the album where Spoon— backed into a corner— took some crazy leaps, all of them forward.

SWANS

“White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity”

YOUNG GOD - DECEMBER 4

White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, Swans’ seventh studio album originally released in 1991, is considered the starting point for the second section of Swans’ inimitable history. Described as “…the glistening, glimmering sounds of the pensive countryside” by Stereogum, this will be the first time White Light from the Mouth of Infinity has been available on vinyl since its original release on Young God Records in 1991. The 2LP vinyl issue will include the track ‘Blind’, not included in the original release. Also available as a deluxe 3CD set and Deluxe 3LP/ CD box set, including the band’s eighth studio album ‘Love of Life’, from 1992. ‘Love of Life’ will also be available as an individual LP.

VARIOUS

“Bobby Gillespie Presents: Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”

ACE - DECEMBER 4

Primal Scream are one of the most popular and influential British groups of the past thirty years. They mix the musical past with the present to create a special sound. The tracks on this compilation, selected by lead singer Bobby Gillespie, allow a view into part of his music world. This is the first commercially released compilation put together by Bobby Gillespie. He describes the music as “beautiful, fragile and soulful.” The CD’s tracklisting includes music by the 13th Floor Elevators, the Beach Boys, the Byrds, Gene Clark, Ronnie Wood, Willie Nelson and Jerry Lee Lewis. It also features Primal Scream’s take on the Jesus And Mary Chain’s ‘Darklands’.

WAVVES & CLOUD NOTHINGS

No Life For Me

GHOST RAMP - DECEMBER 18

No Life For Me is the highly anticipated collaborative album between Nathan Williams of Wavves and Dylan Baldi of Cloud Nothings via Williams’s own imprint, Ghost Ramp. The album was recorded at Williams’s home during sessions in March and June of 2014, with production from Sweet Valley. “No Life for Me defends this curious union in the catchiest way possible, pitting Williams’ blissed-out, high-in-the-sky hooks and harmonies against Baldi’s grounded, workmanlike songcraft in a fuzzed-out tug of war.” – Pitchfork “Like a punk rock ‘ Watch the Throne’, ‘No Life for Me’ finds two of the genre's leading lights working at the peak of their powers.” – Exclaim! 8/10
