LABEOUF’S BEEF

Eternal first-year art student Shia LaBeouf likes to shroud himself in mystery, but there was no artist statement required when he recently spoke about his work with legend Steven Spielberg. In an interview with Variety, he explained that he spent his childhood ambling to work with Amblin Entertainment, but the reality proved disappointing. “You get there, and you realize you’re not meeting the Spielberg you dream of,” he said. “You’re meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career. He’s less a director than he is a fucking company.”

POTTER PLOTTERS

Though he’s perfectly content with playing a neo-Nazi ( Imperium) and a farting corpse ( Swiss Army Man), Daniel Radcliffe may have to reconsider his role as Harry Potter. The moneymaking wizard recently returned in the new play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and there are rumours swirling that Warner Bros. wants to option it for a new film trilogy. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Radcliffe said he was “never going to close the door” on revisiting the role, though he doesn’t mind someone else tackling it.

GET A GRIP ON THE GALAXY

Aerosmith howler Steven Tyler has done a lot of unexpected things of late, from judging on American Idol to crooning out a country album. Now he wants to play a space dude in an upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. In a recent interview with People, Tyler said, “I would do anything to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 — are you listening James Gunn?» The director posted a response declaring that he was, in fact, listening. That said, he kept the details vague, so if Tyler does happen to appear in the franchise’s third film we’ll have to guess what sordid and degrading things he did to get the role.

NEW LOWE

Fresh off of having his life and career raked over the coals on the Comedy Central roast, Lowe has signed on for a major role in Super Troopers 2. The actor will play Guy Le Franc, a former pro hockey player who is now the mayor of a Quebecois border town. Comedy troupe Broken Lizard brought their film to Indiegogo hoping to raise $2 million USD and wound up shattering their goal with a whopping $4.5 million raked in.

GOOD SHIT

If you can’t stop watching the works of Uwe Boll and Tommy Wiseau, we’ve got some good news. Despite what your loved ones are saying, there’s not actually something fundamentally wrong with you. In the literary journal Poetics, researchers concluded that those who consume trashy movies simply have a more well-rounded view of pop culture. “We are dealing here with an audience with above-average education, which one could describe as ‘cultural omnivores.’ Such viewers are interested in a broad spectrum of art and media across the traditional boundaries of high and popular culture.”
