Global food insecurity may double by end of year

-

Christian organizations are sounding the alarm about the increasing risk of starvation in the wake of Covid-19. Citing United Nations estimates, Gordon Janzen of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank says 820 million people face food insecurity including 135 million who can’t access food every day. “That number had been coming down over the last number of years, but is, unfortunately, climbing up a little now,” Janzen states. He adds that the effects of the pandemic risk doubling the number of people who lack sufficient food by the end of the year.
