Personal money questions

people often balk when I say one of the most loving things a pastor ever did for me was ask about money. Partway through our first personal conversation, a few months after I began attending his church, he asked if my monthly disability government cheque was enough to cover expenses. That felt profoundly loving. –Meagan Gillmore in “Dear church, about living on $2,000 a month or less”

Worshipping online

this is the longest period of time I can recall in my life when I haven’t been in a church on a Sunday morning, and it hasn’t killed me. I mean logically, I knew it wouldn’t. But what I have also learned is how much I long to be in church in a way I don’t long for anything else. –Gregory Butler in “Being the Church when we can’t be in the church”

Rough start for marriage – and for Canada

like many Indigenous children in the 1960s, both I and my wife were removed from our families and communities, and placed into non-Indigenous families. Today my wife and I make an excellent team and we are best friends. We go together like tea and bannock or like maple syrup and pancakes. The two of us have been through a lot, and although we have been married 20 years, we are still trying to make a future together. Canada’s early years also included some major mistakes. Just like our marriage went through some trying times, our history in Canada isn’t something to brag about to anyone. –Parry Stelter in “I’ll still celebrate Canada – A renewed Indigenous perspective”
