HOW TO PRAY FOR STUDENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC

Faith Today asked students and staff for campus ministry organizations how to pray for postsecondary students during COVID-19. Here’s what they told us.

-

“Connection, community and mental health. That people would get the supports that they need. [That students will] want a deeper connection, and act on that as well.”

CHLOE STARRA University of Guelph student, involved with Power to Change – Students

“Wisdom: Our whole ministry model is completely upended. We’re figuring out a new way forward. Our staff aren’t immune to the effects of Covid. Pray for us to lean more into Christ and experience His healing and tell others about Him.”

DAN SHERMAN national campus strategies director, Power to Change – Students

“Pray for [spiritual] vision for students. The road to faith in Jesus for this generation will likely look a lot different than the road to faith for their parents’ generation, but this generation is desiring to walk with Jesus.”

DAVE NGUYENSTONE campus ministry staff director, B.C., IVCF

“That students would encounter Jesus. In whatever space they’re in that they would have invitations or little nudges towards the Kingdom of God.”

ROBIN SHUGART campus ministry staff director, Manitoba, IVCF

“The environment and context is immensely complex for students today. Pray that people would encounter God, and that our ministry would be shaped by helping people have personal encounters with God, and helping them try to sort out and make sense of that.”

PETE OTT national director of campus ministry, IVCF

“Pray that students would encounter Jesus as they consider the bigger questions of life [and that] churches can take the time to consider blessing them physically.”

SETH GREENHAM district director for B.C./Yukon branch, UCM
