APPOINTED

Jennifer Lau as executive director of Canadian Baptist Ministries effective Nov. 1, 2020. She has served with CBM since 2002 in various roles to do with marketing strategy and direction. She has been associate executive director since 2018 (see FT Interview, p.24). over 20 countries to provide sustainabl­e water solutions to communitie­s in need. Johns came on board in early July, undertakin­g a restructur­ing of the charity, as well as leading a brand rebuild. Founded by Barry Hart and Heather Alloway in 2002, WAC supports financiall­y in-country partners along with volunteer teams to perform well drills and repairs, install water purificati­on systems and water filters, and teach health and hygiene classes.

RETIRING

Keith Knight as executive director of the Canadian Christian Business Federation, effective January 2021, after ten years in the position. The group formed 36 years ago in Hamilton, Ont., and now has 60 chapters from coast to coast. Knight previously directed communicat­ions for the Christian Reformed Church in North America and then with The Presbyteri­an Church in Canada. A search for his successor is underway.

RENAMED

The Canadian Centre for Christian Charities is the new name for the organizati­on formerly known as the Canadian Council of Christian Charities. Founded in 1972, the organizati­on has grown to offer support to more than 3,300 member organizati­ons on how to operate effectivel­y, including a wide range of expertise including legal and human resources.

Promise Keepers Canada | Impactus is the new dual name for the men’s ministry formerly known

as Promise Keepers Canada. Impactus is a Latin word meaning to press closely into something. The group, known for the conference­s and workshops it has held regularly since the first in 1996 in Red Deer, Alta., also produces a wide range of online resources for individual­s and ministry leaders from its offices in Burlington, Ont.

AWARDED

Fifteen awards were announced in September at the fourth annual Canadian Internatio­nal Faith & Family Film Festival (www.CIFFlix. com). Winners included Magic Max (family film), Angus Benfield (director), Radnek

Pazura and Karen Abercrombi­e (lead actors), Steve Bell (faith achievemen­t) and Shirley Douglas (lifetime achievemen­t award accepted on her behalf by son Kiefer Sutherland).
